GUO Charges Youths To Embrace Agriculture

By Emeka Odogwu

The Chairman, board of directors, GU Okeke and Sons limited, Chief Godwin Okeke has urged the Nigerian youths to embrace agriculture.
Chief Okeke who is also the Chairman, Board of Directors, VARAMAN INDUSTRIES LTD made this call when some youths visited him in his palatial home. He pointed out that agriculture is a lucrative business that should not be left in the hands of the old and illiterate people.

He noted that one beautiful thing about going into agriculture is that it can be combined with some other endeavours.

"I was the major supplier of eggs to University of Nigeria, Enugu campus in 1971 not minding the fact that I already have a flourishing transportation company,"  he recalled.
The transportation Guru however urged the government at all levels to make social amenities available in the rural areas so that the youthful and energetic individuals can stay back instead of the mad rush to urban centers where many of them eventually become carried away and may not be useful to the society as should.

He also harped on the need to have good road network between the rural and urban centers so that farm produce can easily be evacuated. Chief Okeke expressed his willingness to support any youth who is ready to go fully into the business of feeding the nation.

Bishop Ikeakor Flays State Governors Over Rising Debt Profile By Emeka Odogwu The Anglican Bishop of Amichi diocese, Most Revd Ephraim Ikeakor has raised alarm over the rising debt profile in Nigeria. Ikeakor noted that the nation's debt profile which has risen to N24.39 trillion as at December 31, 2018 is shameful, attributing such to lack of focus of the state governors, especially from the south east. The prelate stated this at Cathedral church of St  Andrews, Amichi in Nnewi south local government Area of Anambra state during press conference and facility inspection as part of activities marking the second session of the fourth synod of the diocese. Ikeakor noted that no debt profile by any Governor was justifiable, stating that the internally generated revenue of the states is enough to clear all debts and still take care of other aspects of governance. "But our problem is that we lack prudent management of resources in governance.  We don't have governors...
